6Frequently asked questions
What are the most common Powerball numbers?
Since October 2015: 21 (128 times), 61 (126 times), 64 (126 times), 28 (121 times), 23 (120 times). The list is recalculated after every draw.
Do "hot" numbers have a better chance?
No. The balls have no memory: in every draw every combination has exactly the same chance. Differences in frequency are normal statistical noise.
What is an "overdue" number?
The one that has gone the longest without being drawn. It is not more likely to come up next time; it only describes the history.
Is there any strategy that helps?
Nothing improves your odds of matching, but avoiding very popular combinations (birthdays, sequences like 1-2-3-4-5) lowers the chance of sharing a jackpot if you win.
